Sir Alex Ferguson Advises Ole Solskjaer On Formation Switch That Could Make United Title Contenders

The Red Devils disappointedly lost to Aston Villa as Ole Solskjaer went on to maintain his 4-2-3-1 formation

Cristiano Ronaldo couldn’t find the back of the net during the weekend as Aston Villa stormed the Red Devils with a late winner goal.

United had lost their previous game before the Villa game and sadly did receive another beating with Ole Solskjaer unwilling to change his formation.

Over the years, Ronaldo has excelled playing from the left wing area where he can cut in and strike heavily but since his arrival to Old Trafford, Ole Solskjaer has preferred to use him as a number 9.

No doubt Ronaldo can finish perfectly but he would be more dangerous attacking from the wing according to Sir Alex Ferguson.

The former Man United manager saw a better Cristiano Ronaldo who was more dangerous to opponents because of the way he used him.

Speaking after United’s weekend loss, Ferguson said of Ole’s 4-2-3-1 formation; “I think there needs to be a little change in some things, the team is building all round and that’s not a lie but some times adjustments are the best things.

“The current formation is good, no doubt but it currently isn’t yielding desired result, and a switch to a more proper formation could help out.

“Cavani is in the squad and Ronaldo is there too, both can be in the same match and play well together.

“During my time, I prefer using Ronaldo from the flank cause he loves it there, he has the space to do alot and can even score from outside the box when he sees the opportunity.

“That’s what makes him the world best player, he has done it many times and it’s now left for the manager to utilize him well.

“Maybe a 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 hybrid could see these players balling in their peak forms, Pogba is in the center too, Bruno is there, the team is very gifted.

The former manager went on to add on Ronaldo’s debut saying; “It’s fantastic. You saw on that Saturday [Newcastle game] that it was like Caesar entering Rome after victory. I came, I saw, I conquered. It was fantastic.

“I mean, for anyone who is a United fan, we could have had a million people in there, without doubt, as there were so many outside, hundreds outside. It’s one of these things. When he was here as a kid, his learning process was very, very quick.

“A lot of people said he was a diver and there was a little spell of that but, after that, he was attacking defenders and all he needed was a nudge and he would waltz by them. He would attack with unbelievable speed.
