The Portuguese has always been a beast from the left wing but since arriving Old Trafford lately, Ole Solskjaer has been using him as a number 9
It could be said that Ronaldo didn’t just take Cavani’s number but also his position since Ole Solskjaer uses him as a number 9 instead of the left wing where he has always played for.
Even during his first spell at the club, Ronaldo despite being the best finisher, still attacks from the left wing where he could cut in and place a nice shot into the enemies goal post.
But since he is used as a number 9, Ronaldo could only wait for the works to be done by the midfielders and wingers before he gets to finish off anything.
The Portuguese still had to voice his opinion despite being submissive to the Manager’s decision especially as it’s not favoring him and the team results.
United prior their victory against Villarreal had lost games and were close to losing against the Submarines before Alex Telles stroke with a superb shot and then Ronaldo secured their victory with a finish at the last minute.
Speaking on his preferred position and why the number 9 isn’t the best for him, Ronaldo said to Sky; “Real Madrid was where I had my best seasons in my career, won many awards and many achievements, everyone knows that.
“I did very well in United in my first period and I also hope to do well again and make more history and win awards.
“I liked it more at Real Madrid cause I was always coming in from the wing and could make runs and do alot then I had Benzema in the inside, we worked alot.
“But here at United? I love it, I love the club so much cause it’s where my story started and am so passionate about this club. I would love it more if I get to start from my position again.
“The 9 is good but I prefer the wing, it’s spacious and I can do things to set up the team for great goals and also score goals from there too, I have done it many times.
United will get to battle Everton on Saturday with hopes of materializing a win and reigniting their chase for the top table with Ronaldo nominated for the premier league player of the month after just 3 games sine his epic return.
