United couldn’t materialize a win against Aston Villa today as the side went on to claim a late victory
Man United weren’t served the game they wished for with Aston Villa coming through to be a shocker for Ole Solskjaer and his men.
Dean Smith clearly have done his home work before approaching the game which he managed to help Villa to their second victory in their last 46 encounters against the Red Devils.
Although United got the chance to be back on the level grounds when a hand ball in Aston Villa’s 18-yard-box led to a penalty kick.
But Bruno Fernandes was so quick to claim the ball, leading to Ronaldo who was supposed to take it to back off.
Unfortunately Bruno fired wide above the goal post, not even hitting the target, this left the fans very mad with the Portuguese who could have let his Country man take the kick as he has proved to be a better scorer over the years.
Following the 1-0 loss which only increases the fire under Ole Solskjaer’s buttocks, Ronaldo was quizzed on the penalty which he could have taken;
“It’s not a good one for us and we lost. We hope to get back good next time,” Ronaldo said.
“Bruno is a good penalty taker and he has proven that over the last few years but this is just one of the bad ones that can’t be avoided.
“It’s normal for a footballer to miss penalties, we will just work harder to return to winning ways. That is the most important thing.”
Solskjaer having seen his best pick for penalties failed to hit the target shared his belief also about the miss saying;
“I wasn’t going to mention it but it’s not right that they do that. I guess that should be a yellow card for someone but they have achieved what they wanted.”
Man United will take on Villarreal on their UCL tie during the new week and another loss could see United forced to sack Ole Solskjaer.
Speaking ahead of the game against the Spaniards, Solskjaer said; “Big game. Champions League. We need to pick up points which is a position these boys have been in before. I know they will fight for each other and fight for the shirt and we will be ready for that one.”
