Tuchel is keen to his side providing more goals in games and formation change is one of the first steps towards achieving this
Chelsea are yet to return to the form of netting over 4 goals in one game and since Tuchel took over, he only managed to get 6 goals in one match during the pre-season.
The side has always been seen struggling to materialize goals especially when the opponents refuse to bring the game to them.
This clearly was the major problem they faced against Manchester City when they lost 1-0 to the Cityzens.
Chelsea’s 3-4-3 or 3-5-2 formation only makes them dangerous when the enemies try to play, but when you refuse to get the ball to them, they don’t see options to counter attack.
In order to solve this, Tuchel appears to have already put plans in place so as to avoid facing further issues in the near future.
Asked if he is considering a formation change, Tuchel said; “Yes. Yes and no, we are always thinking about it.
“But is it really a tactical thing? And does it have less value that we are a difficult team to play against rather than being a team that scores always easily three goals?
“Is this the right step to take? This is the question. Of course we can take this step when we are fully convinced it’s the moment to select more offensive players.
“But it’s also about balance, this game is about balance. And the main point is we stay active no matter what structure we play and the guys help each other on the field.”
