The Blues will be without two key players as Thomas Tuchel hope to beat Manchester City for the fourth time as Chelsea manager
Chelsea will lock horns with Manchester City today with Pep Guardiola hoping to earn a resounding victory as a make up for their last three loses against the Blues.
But Pep knows it won’t be an easy task going up against the German tactician who helped Chelsea to their second UEFA Champions League trophy in just months of his takeover.
Although, City may have just been handed a boost after Thomas Tuchel confirmed his side will be without two key players who played key roles in their last games against the Cityzens.
But not just would Pep want a win for revenge sake but it also would mean him becoming the most successful Manchester City as he is already on level with Les McDowell.
Following comments from Thomas Tuchel, Guardiola could be in some way relieved as both Mason Mount and Christian Pulisic would be absent.
“Christian Pulisic is still out,” Tuchel said. “For Mason Mount it’s too soon. He has a little minor injury from the Aston Villa game. He made huge progress but tomorrow is too soon.”
On Mount’s “surprise” absence, he added: “He is very disappointed and I didn’t feel it during the [Villa] match because it was the second half and he played through the injury.
“He finished the game, he was even confident enough to take a penalty. So it was a surprise. The steps he is taking are huge, maybe he could’ve played if the game was one day later,” Tuchel continued.
“So it’s a minor injury but there is disappointment because he’s a player we rely on but the task is to find solutions now and to bring him back as soon as possible.”
